How Many Tattoos Does Angelina Jolie Have?

I’m ashamed to admit it, but I’d lost track of how many tattoos Angelina Jolie has. Bad, bad, Denise!

Honestly, I actually watched Wanted so I could see the scene where she’s walking out of the healing pool and you see her quasi-nude from behind. Since I’m female that sounds off, until you realize, I’m trying to count her tattoos. Which, I have to admit, doesn’t sound much better.

I finally had to look up the answer – Angelina Jolie has 13 tattoos. With Brad Pitt’s hidden 2, that makes them a 15 tattoo household.

Since Ms. Jolie tends to get tattoos to commemorate occasions in her life, such as the birth of her children, I guess there are more tattoos on the horizon.

Wake me when she hits 20.

Angelina Jolie has been quoted as saying, "I collected knives and always had certain things around. For some reason, the ritual of having cut myself and feeling the pain, maybe feeling alive, feeling some kind of release, it was somehow therapeutic to me."

Which might explain some of the tattoos. While I’m a fan, I’m not a friend, so whether this is true or not is up to debate.

Ms. Jolie has an eclectic collection of tattoos, which are all pulled together by the fact that they are black.

• an Asian tiger on her back
• a dragon under the tiger
• a letter "H" (for her brother James Haven) on the inside of her left wrist
• A prayer for the wild at heart, kept in cages, a Tennessee Williams quote, on her left forearm
• a tilted Latin cross tattoo on the lower left of her abdomen, which is a cover-up a previous dragon tatoo
• a Yantra prayer for her son Maddox on her left shoulder which covers up a Chinese death symbol tattoo
• know your rights between her shoulders
• Quod Me Nutrit Me Destruit, Latin for “What nourishes me also destroys me” on her lower stomach
• Strength of Will in Arabic, on her right forearm, which is also a cover-up. Correction, this Arabic script tattoo means Determination!
• two tribals tattoos, one on each side of the lower parts of her back
• XIII, number 13 in Roman numerals on her left forearm

She also has six sets of geographical coordinates on her upper left arm indicating the birthplaces of her children. Over time she covered or lasered several of her tattoos, including "Billy Bob", the name of a former husband, A Chinese character for death, and a window on her lower back. She said that “she removed the window, because, while she used to spend all of her time looking out through windows wishing to be outside, she now lives there all of the time.”
